  • Customs detained 57 433 cases with more than 31 million products suspected of violating intellectual property rights.

  • Malta ranked in the 8th place as the most detained articles (vide pg 19)

  • The value of the detained goods is just over 582 million EURO.

  • Foodstuffs accounted for the largest number of articles in detentions (24 %), followed by toys (11 %) and cigarettes (9 %).

  • Postal and courier packages accounted for around 76% of customs interventions, with 21% of the detentions in postal traffic concerning labels, tags and stickers.

  • China continued to be the main source.
