Notice: Reduced National Import System (NIS) time-out

In line with its continuous efforts to simplify and facilitate trade, beyond extending the availability of the National Import System (NIS) from 8am to 8pm, the Customs Department would like to inform all Economic Operators that, as from Monday, 9th November 2020, it will be reducing the time-out from two to one hour. This means that the consignee and/or his declarant, will get to know whether a consignment is in goods are released status (green), selected for documentary check (yellow) or selected for control (red), after just one hour following the submission of the import declaration.

The Authorized Economic Operators (AEOs) and courier operators will continue to benefit from the fifteen minute time-out. The next milestone for the Department is to provide a 24/7 NIS service to its customers, including Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays, by the first quarter of 2021.
