Training on the Automated Export System (AES) for Economic Operators (The new upgraded Export System)

The Automated Export System (AES) is a Europe-wide system that promotes the smooth and efficient export of goods out of the Union. AES is used by EU member states’ customs administrations and economic operators and the UK’s HMRC for the implementation of the Northern Ireland Protocol. It allows for the digitalisation and modernisation of export and exit formalities as required by the Union Customs Code (UCC). By improving customs processes and offering more trade facilitations, AES reinforces the competitiveness of European businesses.

The MTCA Training unit informs that throughout May 2025, MTCA Customs Operational Instructors will conduct 4-hourly hands-on training sessions on the Automated Export System (AES); the new upgraded online export system. Attendance is restricted to Economic Operators who have a designated  username and password to access the current National Export System (NES).

This training is designed for the Economic Operator, the person who lodges the export declaration, or on whose behalf that declaration is lodged, or the person to whom the rights and obligations in respect of a customs procedure have been transferred.

Prior to undergoing the in-house training on AES-P1 that Customs Operations will be providing, it is advisable that Economic Operators attain competency in both the export procedure from a business perspective and an oversight on the new functionalities of the export electronic system (AES) by following these links:
