The Customs Department would like to remind all economic operators that as per Commission Implementing Regulation 2019/2072, used (2nd hand) Agricultural Machinery is subject to phytosanitary controls and will require a Phytosanitary Certificate including an additional deceleration stating that the machinery is clean and free from soil and plant debris. These imports will be inspected and subject to import control fees and will need to be entered into TRACES by the importer at least 48hrs before the consignment arrives. Such commodities are inspected and controlled by the Plant Protection Directorate and aims to not introduce any harmful organisms that affects plants and trees into the Maltese Islands. Press notice
