Please note that as of Monday, 14th November 2022, systematic early acceptance into customs area of vehicles imported from Japan will no longer be accepted. That said, the declarant may prepare the declaration in ‘draft’ status. On actual arrival of the vessel, import declarations can be submitted instantaneously.
This anomaly has been corrected to bring us fully into compliance with the Customs legislations and also in preparation for the new Union Customs Code (UCC) compliant IT systems, which will come into effect in the third quarter (Q3) of 2023. The Department also considered that the National Customs Import System (NIS) has substantially improved its performance since the introduction of this measure.
