Subject: Changes in Used Vehicles Importation Procedures
As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce controls and facilitate trade, a new procedure for the importation of used vehicles came into effect on Monday, 16th December 2024. Under this updated practice importation of used vehicles may now be subject to a documentary check (yellow result) or instant release (green result). This represents a shift from the previous approach where all vehicles were automatically selected for physical control (red result).
Kindly note that, despite this procedural change, all vehicles must still be inspected by Transport Malta (TM) before exiting Labwharf OR the Containers and Groupage Unit (Hal Far Complex). Therefore, regardless of the risk result, vehicles are required to be booked through Customs for inspection by TM.
