Customs seized 28,000 contraband cigarettes from a St. Julian’s commercial establishment and an apartment lying above it which was used as a warehouse. The find comes following routine inspections by the Enforcement Unit of Customs around the islands.

At one point Customs officials had to request the assistance of the Police to be able to continue with their search.

Tax lost from the seized cigarettes is valued at around €5,000.
