A joint operation conducted by Malta Customs, the Armed Forces of Malta and the Security Services led to the discovery of 20 Arab nationals hidden on board a Maltese-owned fishing vessel.

Five men, the owner and crew, were arrested and charged with human trafficking, while the stowaways were transferred to Safi Detention Centre pending questioning by the Commissioner for Refugees.
