A German drug courier, in his thirties, was jailed to five and a half years and fined €15,000 after admitting of trafficking cocaine in his stomach. The German was arrested together with an alleged Maltese drug trafficker after surveillance done By Malta Police and Malta Customs in August 2011.
Investigations had begun on his arrival to Malta from Eindhoven; Customs had stopped him briefly but eventually let him through. Then Malta Police continued their surveillance by following his trails and arrested him at his hotel room. They also arrested a Maltese national, who was at the hotel asking for the German while carrying €7,000 in cash.
