18th November 2013 – A Spaniard was sentenced to 11 years imprisonment, and fined €23,000, after found guilty with bringing into Malta over a kilogram of heroin. The Spaniard arrived on a flight from Amsterdam and was caught carrying 1,127.9 grams of heroin, with a purity of 26.7%, in the soles of his bulky shoes.
