It has already been publicly announced that the Customs Department is in the process of launching its new National Export System intended for the clearance of goods for export. The Department is now announcing that the migration from the present system to the new system will take place during this coming weekend. Thus, being a long weekend , Customs will ascertain that there will be no disturbance to the flow of trade.
The migration will follow these arrangements:
- the present system will be switched off on Friday 18th September at 4pm,
- from Friday 18th September at 4pm to Tuesday 22nd September, MITA personnel, assisted by Customs personnel, will embark on a 24 hour working schedule to transfer data to the new servers,
- the new system will go live during business hours on Tuesday 22nd September, saving no unforeseen problems are encountered,
- for urgent exports taking place between Friday 18th September at 4pm and Tuesday 22nd September, for which no electronic declaration to Customs has been submitted prior to the switching off of the present system, a completely filled manual Single Administrative Document (SAD) is required,
- between Friday 18th September at 4pm and Tuesday 22nd September the processing service of the manual Single Administrative Document (SAD) will be offered by Customs free of charge,
- traders requiring this emergency service are advised to call on 2568 5150 or 2568 5151,
- any other services required, which are not related to the processing of the manual Single Administrative Document (SAD), shall continue to follow the established practice.
