A long investigation by the Joint Enforcement Task-force (JET) into the business of a Cospicua Barber Shop, has led Officials from the Customs Department’s Enforcement Unit and Tax Inspectors from the Revenue Department, to a garage, in Swatar, which was being used for storage purpose by the owner of the Barber Shop. The search yielded a discovery of 4,134 bottles of non-alcoholic beverages which were imported in Malta without taxes being paid.
The business owner did not hold the necessary registration to import and trade excise goods.
The JET is a joint investigative initiative by the Customs and the Revenue Departments and this is yet another positive result achieved by the determination of the task force to curb fraudulent behavior.
