Tuesday morning, Customs Officials discovered over €45,000 of undeclared cash at the Airport Departures Lounge.

A passenger, departing to Istanbul on Tuesday morning, was discovered carrying undeclared cash. Searches resulted in the elevation of €45,185.

The case was handed over to the Police Economic Crimes Unit.

In total this year, Customs discovered 65 cases amounting to €1,526,016 in undeclared cash.

Passengers carrying any amount of money, in cash or cheques, equivalent to €10,000 are obliged to declare them to Customs as per National Legislation which is in line with the European Regulation.
