Customs Enforcement Officials kept capitalizing on their success this Christmas with a undeclared cash seizure on the last Sunday of 2019.

During routine checks on passengers arriving from an EU member state, one passenger was screened through the X-ray and discovered to be carrying 21,100euros in undeclared cash in his carry-on luggage.

10,000 euro were returned to the passenger with the rest being seized until further investigations are carried out.

By European and national law, passengers are obliged to declare any amount of cash or cheques over the amount of 10,000euros (or equivalent) to Customs upon arriving, departing or transiting to/through Malta.
