- One of the cases were collaboration between the Customs Department and the Malta Police Force, emanating from a recently signed Cooperation Agreement between the two entities, result in curbing  contraband activity.                 

The Customs Enforcement Section was alerted yesterday, by Police Officials stationed in Rabat, of a woman selling contraband cigarettes from her vehicle. The Police officials held the woman in question under arrest until the Customs Officials arrived at the scene.

Following a search on the vehicle in question, a total of 1,560 cigarettes were elevated. The vehicle alongside the cigarettes were seized by Customs pending investigation.

Subsequently searches were carried out in the person’s residence as well as a bar she owns and operates in Hamrun.
