Between the 15 and the 17th instant, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Department of Customs, hosted a delegation from the Libyan Customs Authority.
The delegation visited several Customs outstations, including the Scanning Facility at the Freeport, where they interacted with local Customs officials performing several duties and familiarised themselves with good practices employed in Malta. The delegation was headed by the Head of the Libyan Customs Authority, Mr Shabani.
The delegation also had talks with Malta Customs management, where the foundations for signing a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation were laid.
The delegation had further talks with the Malta Police Force, the Armed Forces and Foreign Affairs officials.
On their last day in Malta, the Libyan delegation paid a visit also to Finance and Employment Minister, Clyde Caruana, under whose remit falls the Customs Department.
This is another initiative by Malta’s law enforcement agencies to enhance cooperation and collaboration with other similar agencies.
