Customs Malta flagged 12 cases of counterfeit transhipment containers and 65 other domestic cases so far in 2021.
In the Department’s continuous fight against counterfeit products entering the market, this year 12 of 20 containers in transhipment were found to be carrying fake products amounting to the total market value of €58,608,875. Footwear, electronics and toothpaste were amongst the fake products seized.
As for domestic products, out of 68 cases, 65 were found to be counterfeit products amounting to the total market value of €359,840. Amongst these products were sunglasses, wrist watches and garments.
