EU Regulation 670/2016 of the 28th April 2016 introducing prior Union surveillance of imports of certain iron and steel products (indicated in Annex 1 of regulation) originating in certain third countries.

The Customs department would like to bring to your attention the coming into effect of E.U. Regulation 670/2016 as from 3rd June 2016 with particular reference to Article 2 which stipulates that the release for free circulation in the Union of the products referred to in Article 1 shall be subject to the presentation of a surveillance document issued by the competent authorities of a Member State. 

In the case of Malta, the competent authority for the issuing of these surveillance documents is the Commerce Department, Trade Services Directorate, Lascaris Bastions, Daħlet Ġnien is-Sultan, Valletta VLT 1933.  Email address is [email protected] and the telephone number is 21226688.
