Customs detained 57 433 cases with more than 31 million products suspected of violating intellectual property rights.
Malta ranked in the 8th place as the most detained articles (vide pg 19)
The value of the detained goods is just over 582 million EURO.
Foodstuffs accounted for the largest number of articles in detentions (24 %), followed by toys (11 %) and cigarettes (9 %).
Postal and courier packages accounted for around 76% of customs interventions, with 21% of the detentions in postal traffic concerning labels, tags and stickers.
